CASE study 2

IN 1987, artist Lebbeus Woods created a drawing of a chair. Later he went to view the new movie 12 Monkeys starring  bruce willis who plays a time traveler. Near the begining of the movie, Joe (bruce willis) is bought to the interrogation room were he is told to sit in a chair. the chair is attached to the walls by chains or rails  it is placed in the middle of the air held meters above the floor ….. this was the same chair  Woods created, he was  not amused.

Universal studios admitted on viewing these sketches of the chair before creating the movie. But “They believe themselves crators, or innovators, when in actuality they are nothing more nor less than the executors of a physical and social order designed by those institutions presently holding political authority and power.” – Lebbeus Woods, Anarchitecture – Architecture as a Political Act.

i Think if  they admitted to actually viewing the sketches of the original chair before they “created” the copied chair they must of used some ideas  of the sketches produced by Woods to create there sci fi chair.

What do you think  ? 🙂
